Brian Sturgeon for Ward 6 Councillor (Incumbent) - Seguin Township

Sept 8, 2010

The following is a 300 word write up from Brian Sturgeon for the LRNA newsletter and or LRNA’s website.

This year marks my 15th year of municipal political involvement; the past 4 years as your Seguin council representative.

As a permanent resident, lakefront property owner on Lake Rosseau, a member of LRNA and having cottaged in the area for over 40 years, I have strongly supported our Seguin Township “environment first” approach to all future planning.

My past business experience, both in the corporate world and as a small business owner, along with my university degree in economics, has given me a solid background on which to make the necessary decisions to ensure our municipal financial and people resources are applied efficiently and effectively.  From a fiscal management standpoint, your current council and staff achieved a 2010 budget that resulted in “no tax increase”.

Why vote for Brian Sturgeon?

15 year of municipal experience, both on council and as a consultant during the development and implementation of the new official plan for the City of London.  Council duties have included, chair of planning board, member of the finance committee, social services committee, and actively involved in community groups and local associations.

I have proven track record of responding to the needs of the community I serve.

I will have attended almost 80 council meetings of council during this term of council.  In addition, I was an active participant in over 100 community and pubic meetings during my current term on council.  An attendance record of 93%.

I have met the needs of our residents, whether it was a zoning issue, the need for a stop sign, the establishment of a sports court for the younger members of the community…..the list of ideas and issues I have followed up on is extensive.

When it comes to casting your vote for Seguin Ward 6 councillor, base your decision on the facts.  Thank you.

Brian Sturgeon
